Community Contribution #1
A digital identity is something used to identify yourself online, which can be in social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. It may not be your real name, but if it is something you want to get a benefit off from, you may identify yourself as “Steve”, and saying that you are a content creator. But if is for a professional purpose, which you would like to search jobs in LinkedIn, then you would have to present your main identity with all the professional experiences you had in the past. If it was created personally, it is important that you would use a nickname to identify yourself because as it is focused all in you, your personal profile can be designed on how you like. Prior to creating the profile, it is important that you would consider what audience you are targeting, and what would the benefits be, and what would the risks be. For example, when you create a personal learning network (PLN), it is where you gather and share information to people who you know and it mainly towards building the connection with the purpose of learning, to gain further knowledge, and to build a connection circle with specific people in your choice. When building a PLN, it is within a professional circle which you have something in common with, it could be work, interest or goals you share with the circle, which as not all of the people inside it may be friends with you, you still may retain common benefits within your network, and LinkedIn shows as a good example because LinkedIn is the primary global hub for building a public resume, connecting with former students in your field, and messaging professionals that works in the company you want to work in. In my opinion, when I am to expand my PLN, I would talk to both my current classmates in the same subject, and know more professionals that are working in the field I intend to work in the future because this would give me the opportunity on what to be aware of prior to my interview, and what to expect in my work etc.
