Community Contribution #3
Diversity and Inclusion in PLN
About diversity and inclusion in PLN, I think that within my network, I would always not set compulsory requirements for any level of people to become part of my PLN because as a future educator, I would want to lift boundaries for people who would want to learn new things off me, which I believe that would make a change to being inclusive to all fields of people, and it would encourage one another to adapt well and make a community that would be catering to one another.
According to One Without the Other : Stories of Unity Through Diversity and Inclusion, in chapter 1, it was a story about a teacher who was skeptical of inclusion, which about learning the tolerance for the other kids was the strong reason for inclusion, in which she learned that there was a lot of inaccuracy of her understanding about inclusive learning, and she really tried hard to adapt, which I think her experience would shape my current experience eventually because as I aim to be a classroom teacher, I would need to learn about the needs of my PLN, and the needs of the PLN I am in which is important when contributing to one because its about growing in a circle who has things in common with me and learning from each other.
However, when it comes to the challenges, it may be some or more people in my PLN may have different views than me, which is understandable because it is normal that we have different ways of thinking, and maybe if I was to be fair, there could be another option I would give, and I think the most important thing is to keep options open to the team because if there are more choices available for the PLN’s strategy, it would lead to more types of development strategies available.
Overall, I think being inclusive and have a large diversity is important for a PLN because not only it helps to give options, but it helps the team to enjoy working together.
